My blend of plaster of paris and biochar is an excellent culture medium for many springtails. Springtail Plaster offers a clean surface for culturing and easily harvesting springtails.

Add TWO parts plaster to bottom of airtight culture container and stir in ONE part water. Let set for one hour or until fully solidified. Rehydrate and seed with your choice of springtails. Add a small pile of sphagnum moss (sometimes called the “plagnum” method) for increased surface area and ideal culture conditions.

I use 2oz dry volume of Springtail Plaster per 8 or 16oz deli cup culture. 1lb of Springtail Plaster makes roughly 15 of these cultures.
